At the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services Division of Child Support we often get calls from our clients saying “I filled out and sent in all the application forms, now what?” Once a child support order has been established, our role at the Division of Child Support, is to collect the money from the paying parent and send it to you. There is a little delay until the first payment arrives, but after that you should get them on a regular basis. We receive the payments in a couple of ways. If the paying parent is employed, support is generally withheld from their salary by their employer, who sends those payments here to the Division of Child Support. Payments are normally processed the same day we receive them and then sent on to you within a few days. Some paying parents make their payments directly to us. We also send those payments to you within a few days. You have two primary options for receiving your child support. We can either deposit your payments directly into your bank account, or we do an electronic transfer to your DCS card. Your DCS card can be used anywhere that accepts VISA payments. We know that financial stability helps children thrive, so our goal is to work with paying parents to setup consistent payments over the long term so that you receive them on a regular basis and in a timely manner. At the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services Division of Child Support we promise to provide respect and resources to every person every day. If you have any questions about this or any other child support issue please call us at 1-800-457-6202.
